We use the www.etfconnect.com site all the time when looking at and researching Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs).
It's got some amazing tools, a wealth of historical information as well as a good education centre. The trouble is that it carries only info on the US market. For ETFs in London go to www.ishares.co.uk.
ETFs are basically shares which track an underlying index or sector. ISF in London tracks the FTSE 100, QQQQ in the US the Nasdaq 100 etc. ETFs have cheap running costs and can be easily shorted so making them extremely flexible.
